Embark is a career coaching and professional development program committed to connecting young DC residents to the resources, training, and opportunities they need to launch their careers.

We focus on intensive individual career coaching and needs-based support. We work with Embark participants to  identify and achieve career, education, or training goals. We pair this with professional development skill-building to help participants advance through their early careers. The core elements of the program include:

  • 1-on-1 Coaching

To develop and execute a plan for achieving career, education, and training goals.

  • Professional Development

To develop critical personal and professional skills required for early career success.

  • Job Search and Application Support

To prepare participants for each step of the career application journey.

  • Training or Postsecondary Program Search and Enrollment Support

To ensure that participants find educational opportunities aligned with their career goals and help them build the skills necessary to advance their professional plans.

  • Additional Support Services

To support the general wellbeing of participants to help them succeed in the workplace, school, and other areas of life.

  • Stipend

To compensate for the time participants spend in sessions and working on program materials.

We strongly believe in our participants’ agency, choice, and ability to succeed. We partner with our program participants to shape pathways toward career success, financial stability, and professional opportunities.

Embark is open to DC high school graduates or GED recipients ages 18-25 who want to expand their professional and educational opportunities. The program is open to anyone, regardless of employment status or current school enrollment.

Embark participants will spend approximately two hours per week, which can be scheduled around existing career, training, or educational obligations.
